This course will cover Alexandrian literature within the context of Greek classical traditions. It will examine the political changes from the city-state (polis) system to the Hellenistic kingdoms as they were reflected in the Alexandrian literary  works, the Alexandrian literary innovations, and the transition from oral to the written literary traditions.
