This course will focus on ancient cultural relations between Egypt and Greece, beginning with the pre-dynastic period in Egypt until the period of the modern state. The course will also highlight the important landmarks in both civilizations, such as the 26th dynasty in Egypt and the classical period in Greece (5th and 6th centuries BC). The course will also deal with the Persian conquest of Egypt and the aid that Greece gave to Egypt. Finally, the course will reveal the interaction between Egypt and Greece in Egypt, after many Greeks settled in Egypt following the conquest of Alexander the Great, and throughout the Ptolemaic and Roman periods.
